Getting There
There are two options to get to Bocas del Toro:The first option is through the Inter-American Highway from Panama to the entrance of Gualace (400km.) and from there cross the Cordillera Central, about 90 more kilometers through an asphalt highway that leads to Almirante on a trip that lasts around 3 hours and half. From Almirante, it is possible to cross to Colon Island, where resides the town of Bocas del Toro, by using an aquatic taxi or rented boat that takes approximately 25 minutes to get to the island. The other option is to use a Ferry that takes an hour.
The second option is by plane. Aeroperlas has daily flights from Albrook Airport to the Colon Island. Mapiex and Aviatur also provide periodic flights. The flight lasts about an hour and it is also possible to fly to Bocas from David or Changuinola. A car can be transported on the Ferry to the island, but it is better to leave it in Chiriqui Grande and get around the island on rented bikes.Related Links:Other Destinations:
